Every nerd knows and loves his comic book cartoons, but there’s always been a love/hate relationship between comics and live-action television. That’s why we’re taking a look at the good, the bad and the just-plain-weird before a new generation of comic book series hits prime time. The Good The Walking Dead (2010-present)- This is probably […]

This week, The Butler hits theaters, telling the tale of a man who faithfully served the most powerful men in the world. Of course, this made us think of other big screen servants to some of the greats that graced the silver screen, who kept to the background and did everything in their power to […]

Perhaps the biggest news to come out of Comic Con is that the next Man of Steel movie is going to feature Superman and Batman going toe-to-toe, which has risen the biggest question of the year: Who is going to play the next Batman? Christian Bale has announced that there’s no way he’ll be returning […]

And across the globe, nerds rejoiced.

So this last week was San Diego Comic Con, arguably the biggest comic con in the world. This is the event that, despite its name, has very little to do with comic books and more to do with the movie industry’s adaptations of comics. But Hollywood chooses to test their primetime ‘comic nerd’ material here. We see previews of everything from sci-fi movies to superheroes to great TV, like Game of Thrones and Veronica Mars. And this year, we saw lots of great new projects coming to screens soon, such as Marvel’s Guardians of the Universe, Joss Whedon’s new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the upcoming Thor and Captain America sequels.

With Man of Steel hitting theaters, I’ve been thinking about all the comic book movies that have come before it. Sure, there have been some great ones, like The Avengers, but there have also been some bad ones along the way. So, with Superman getting a new chance to be everything he can be, we […]

See, the whole problem with our top 10 list this week is no one wants to use the phrase “Top 10 Terrorists.” In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s against our site charter. Though to be fair, I was pretty hungover when we were going over that whole thing.

DC comics needs to get its head in the game. A little over a year ago they launched what they called “The New 52” and with it came their chance to show Marvel what they were made of. Then The Avengers came and reminded us that when it comes to movies, they have Batman and that’s about it

Each month, Stars & Popcorn will be teaming up with Meg Schutz Photography to bring you its newest feature, the Girl of the Month. This month, we feature the gorgeous, nerdy artist Stephanie Acosta as the clown queen of crime, Harley Quinn. True fan boys (and girls) will remember that Harley got her start in […]

Five viewings of The Dark Knight Rises and it’s still not enough. So at the risk of being excessive, here’s another freaking article about it. It seems I catch something new every time, some tiny, subtle nuance. For some showings, I went into the theater just hoping to escape from life’s trivialities. Others were analytical undertakings, and boy, do I have stuff to tell you. [...]

Ah, the first hint of a chill in the morning breeze, the distant smell of a wood-burning fireplace exiting its hibernation, the tiniest glimmer of orange hue on the maple leaves… These are things we at Stars & Popcorn don’t know much about because we’re based in Florida. Still, if Twitter’s trending topics and the […]

The Summer of Movie Summers has effectively concluded. The Avengers was a sensation, effectively crippling the box office and providing the proverbial bar for all future superhero/summer flicks to aspire. Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man was appropriately named. And (choking back tears as I write this) Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy was concluded in remarkable… no, astounding… better yet, phenomenal fashion as The Dark Knight Rises (against seemingly insurmountable odds) exceeded all expectations.
