No. You need to take some more time to think about what you’ve done.

With Man of Steel hitting theaters, I’ve been thinking about all the comic book movies that have come before it. Sure, there have been some great ones, like The Avengers, but there have also been some bad ones along the way. So, with Superman getting a new chance to be everything he can be, we decided to take a look at five comic book characters who deserve a second (or third, or fourth, or…) chance as well. We narrowed down our choices to films that don’t have confirmed reboots in the works and have had enough time to sit on the sidelines (sorry Green Lantern; it’s a little too soon for you).

So, this week’s theme is second chances as we take a look at the films that deserve a reboot, and suggest actors and directors who would be our first choices to breathe new life into the characters. With a number of titles returning to Marvel this year, it seems like as good a time as any to try to give the fans what they want, and DC really doesn’t have anything to lose at this point. So, with the massive amount of respect (and money) superhero films are getting these days, it might be a good idea to bring back some old favorites. As always, let us know what you think or our choices in the comments.

I am Swamp Thing.

5. Swamp Thing

The Lead: Andy Serkis

The Director: Guillermo Del Toro

Swamp Thing has been one of the best things to come out of DC’s New 52, and with it racking up critical acclaim, maybe it’s time to give the Plant Man another chance at the silver screen. I’m thinking dark and scary, which is why visionary director Guillermo Del Toro would be perfect. He’s a comic book fan, and he has experience adapting characters, as in the Hellboy films and his rumored Justice League Dark film coming up. Plus, with the lead character almost guaranteed to be computer generated, I’m thinking the king of CGI acting would probably be a good pick to play the lead. Andy Serkis has played a ton of different parts over the years and might be one of the only people in the world who could pull off playing mother nature’s enforcer.
