News Roundup: Transformers 4 Casting News

The internet is aflutter with the news that Mark Wahlberg has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Transformers 4 film. Director Michael Bay spilled the news yesterday on his site where he says, “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy.”

This time it’s personal… or something!

So, how do we feel about this big announcement? Well, we’re completely indifferent. While Wahlberg has had some decent performances in the past, namely in The Fighter, the rest of his filmography is hit-or-miss, and by now we pretty much know how the Transformer films will turn out. So, while a nerdy part of us is excited, the rational side is thinking, “Great, there goes another $15 on a movie banking on spectacle.”

Right now the film is scheduled for release on June 27, 2014.
